Overview

The Zylin Prototyping Board is a general purpose CPU add-on board that runs the eCos RTOS. It also includes a programmable logic chip (FPGA), 10/100 Ethernet interface, SDRAM, and power supply. The Zylin Prototyping Board frees you from designing and building all the standard components in an embedded development project.

It can be used in a project as is--as an evaluation/prototyping board-- or simply as a template to base a specialized PCB design where software and the FPGA source code are reused.

Zylin Prototyping Board

The board comes with a complete GCC toolchain, eCos HAL, a custom eCos bootloader, a “Hello World” application, and a network test application, so that you can start writing your application code immediately. If you prefer an IDE, Zylin has adapted the Eclipse CDT IDE, an excellent open source development IDE, giving you all the tools you need for your project, including CVS and SubVersion source version control.

With a complete add-on module, RTOS, and tools, you can concentrate on making your application board and application code--and have the rest already made! This will shorten your development project time, and improve your time to market.

All the development tools are free. All but the FPGA tools are open source. In addition to the support you will receive from Zylin, you can use the open source community.

We have chosen a programmable logic chip from Xilinx, which currently has free development tools available.
